The emergency call system T-Mobile Alarmruf
Short description
T-Mobile AlarmRuf is an emergency call system via the mobile network which supplements the analog communication system used by the rescue forces of the German Life-Saving Association (Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft - DLRG) around Lake Constance. If an alert is issued by the central control unit or by a helper, an individual voice message is sent via text message or phone call to the mobile and fixed network phones of the rescue workers. They then receive up to five alerts in succession which are supported by a text message if the phones are engaged. The users confirm the receipt at the press of a button and send a reply indicating whether they are able to reach the emergency site immediately or later or are prevented from getting there altogether. The system bundles the replies into a status report which can be called up via e-mail or text message. Participating call groups, cell phone numbers and standard alert message texts can be easily set up via an Internet access.
Project goal
It was often difficult in the past to reach DLRG rescue workers in case of an emergency via the analog radio link. Thanks to T-Mobile AlarmRuf they are now networked intelligently with each other over the mobile network and can therefore coordinate their rescue operations reliably and at short notice. They can even be contacted across national borders.
Benefits
The additional alert over the mobile network is fast, reliable and cost-efficient. The “reply” function can be used by rescue workers to notify the central control unit and tell them whether they are able to participate in a rescue operation or whether they are likely to be delayed. The “stand-by alert” can be used to prepare helpers for potential rescue operations in the Lake Constance area if bad weather is predicted.
Project status
The DLRG has twelve local groups around Lake Constance. Since August 1, 2009, these have been officially equipped with T-Mobile AlarmRuf and are using this additional alert system over the mobile network in order to coordinate their operations. T-City Friedrichshafen supports the DLRG in the Lake Constance district with BlackBerry devices.
