Learning and research
This project area includes services that give students and teachers flexible access to a range of learning content. On the Edunex education platform, for example, teachers can store study materials for a school class that enable students to prepare for their lessons or do their homework.Mobility and transport
This project area researches into new services such as the Easy Air Travel Services, which coordinate travel more efficiently and simplify boarding and transit at airports – for example with cell-phone based ticket systems that enable cash- and paperless check-in.Tourism and culture
The advantages of the services in this project area are evident not only to residents but also to visitors to Friedrichshafen. The tourism portal enables them to plan their trips to Friedrichshafen conveniently online. The Suchen.de@T-City service ensures that the smartphone automatically tracks their current position.New visitors to the city can also easily and independently obtain information on services and tourist offers from the multimedia terminals in the city center. Ten of these terminals have a facility for the hearing impaired to make telephone calls via a sign language interpreting service.Citizens, the city and the state
On the subject of eGovernment, this project area is committed to improving the efficiency of administration processes for residents and businesses in Friedrichshafen. Instead of making a personal appearance at their local administration bureau, they can now use the online services at www.friedrichshafen.de to view public sector information and to send confidential documents securely to the citizens' service center via "De-Mail". Residents in the Lake Constance administrative district can now contact all local administration offices via the standard service number 115.Business and work
This project area covers innovative solutions for "mobile and connected work". One example of these is the service that allows mobile employees to transmit their handwritten information to a company server without any media breaks. The Smart Metering application is an intelligent energy meter. Home owners use it to read their electricity and gas consumption conveniently on the Internet and to identify any energy guzzlers in their households. With the HomeNetwork 2.0 project, T-City Friedrichshafen is testing a management system that enables users to control and operate electronic devices in their homes over the Internet - wherever they happen to be at the time.Health and care
This project area is testing telemedical systems designed to improve medical care. They also enhance safety and quality of life for the elderly, the chronically ill and people in need of help. Diabetics who use the diabetes management system "GlucoTel", for example, no longer have to pay frequent visits to their doctor, since the physician responsible for them can retrieve their vital data on a remote system. Mobile emergency call systems such as "derBUTLER" support the work of care and rescue staff. Other Web-based solutions are used by medical specialists in different locations to coordinate diagnosis and treatment data for patients. Consult the left column for more details of the individual project areas.
